What I Spent: Team Shoelaces and Scrunchie

Hi there, team My Cheer Budget!

Summer practice is in full swing at our gym. I have enjoyed listening to my Laurel explain the new stunts that she is learning in practice (even though I may not fully understand 🤪). She is main base again this year and says that her stunt group is really strong so far. Her backstop was on her team 2 years ago and is very tall (almost as tall as I am!), and her flyer has experience from another gym.

Laurel has had a few private lessons as well to work on tumbling skills. Last season, she felt like she was one of the weaker tumblers on her team. She had the basics but wasn't added into much tumbling in the routine until the last few competitions of the season. This season, she is competing the same level again and feels much more confident in her skills. She and her coach are working to clean up a complicated running tumbling pass and she is SUPER proud of her progress!

Over the summer, teams in our gym usually order matching shoelaces and scrunchies for the athletes. They usually get them in time for skills camps and it's a nice way for them to feel like they have a bit of a uniform, even though they're just small accessories. The shoelaces will be in the team's primary color and the scrunchie will be the same color with TONS of bling ✨ (would it even be a cheer hair accessory if it didn't have bling?).

What I spent:

Shoelaces: $15

Team scrunchie: $15

Grand total: $30

Does your team have any matching accessories for the athletes? Let me know in the comments below!
